Weekly Photo Challenge: Symbol

My friends call me the ‘CAKE GIRL’. I love to bake. Even as a child, I would love to sit and stir the batter and watch how it transforms into this magical thing called a CAKE. Any show related to baking and I would be hooked to the television and noting down the recipe if possible or ensuring I have the name of the dessert and hunt for the recipe online. Five years ago, my sister and I entered into the baking world. We prepared our first ever brownies with nervous excitement hoping they’d turn out well. Our taste testers were our parents. Now with my sister living in another city, it’s hard to find the time to bake together. That didn’t mean we stopped. We just did so on our own.

We entered into the baking world through Brownies, Cakes and Cupcakes. Most of them were chocolate. Chocolate Cakes, Chocolate Cupcakes, Chocolate Brownies etc. We would bake for Christmas and New Year and that’s about it. It went on for a couple of years like that. Once we realised that none of them turned into disasters, we boldly entered into the ‘flavored’ world. And so, we baked our first Sponge Cake and iced it too. Being novices at icing, we started off slowly. Before you knew it, we were acing it in the taste department. Once we got through that and got comfortable with baking, we continued to explore every angle.

From cheesecakes to pies to muffins to rolls to truffles… we made it all. The joy I found in baking is amazing. It’s exciting, it’s relaxing, it’s a great stress reliever and the best part is… people love it!

It wasn’t surprising that soon after baking desserts, I wanted to explore baking breads too. So this year for me is all about baking and exploring its world and experimenting with baking too. So far, it’s been a success. And this is my symbol for the year. My progress in the baking world.
